The challenge

VodafoneZiggo was on a mission to achieve the most accurate visitor counts across all their stores. Vodafone shops have been equipped with PFM bi-directional infrared-beam sensors since the early 2010s. In 2023, PFM was challenged to deliver 99+% accurate insights into shop traffic.

Our approach

In collaboration with VodafoneZiggo, we carried out a System upgrade. From infrared-beam sensors to Stereo 3D visitor counting systems.

Monitoring the Proof of Concept

We set up 4 shops for the Proof of Concept and compared the results with infrared beam counts, closely monitoring differences and analyzing their impact on KPIs.

Centralised data collection

Visitor data from old systems was redirected to VodafoneZiggo headquarters and integrated with new PFM technology on AWS, quickly enhancing management's decision-making insights.

Daily reporting

Shop management receives daily reports with visitor numbers and thus conversion statistics. The goal of making all shops comparable at the best achievable accuracy was realised soon afterwards.

The result

Through our collaboration, over 100 shops have been equipped with the PFM 3D stereoscopic sensors. Wide entrances, high ceilings or a combination of both; we have found the best solution for each situation to capture all incoming and outgoing visitors with an accuracy of over 99%.

We excluded children and set specific count zones to exclude those who have not fully entered the shop. In short: all shops are now perfectly comparable. Moreover: based on those insights, VodafoneZiggo is now able to identify untapped potential and act on it.

The result
